This back rest captures the stabilizing handle keeping it from twisting and bucking upward during the cut. It is made of steel and bolts on to the lathe bed with a handle. They are supplied to fit the swing of the lathe. A version with longer base is available for shortbed lathes with 16"to 24" Swing.
