The Cup Chuck is a simple, fast way to hold projects like small goblets, scoops, spinning tops, weed pots, door stops and other similar items. 

These chucks were used for production turning in England because square or round blanks can be mounted quickly.

The Cup Chucks feature a round hole with a slight taper that the wood is inserted into. Normally a wooden mallet is used to knock the blank until is seats tightly.  Another advantage is that the wood can be turned very close to the chuck without worrying about catching your fingers in the jaws of a chuck.
