Traditionally, when turning thin bowls the back of the workpiece was supported by the left hand while pivoting the tool against the left thumb. This can be dangerous if the bowl has a defect that makes it come apart. Not anymore! This new product from Oneway Manufacturing will greatly increase safety while reducing the vibration encountered while hollowing bowls and other projects. Now you can turn thinner bowls without the chatter marks of the past. The Bowl Steady is made with a 5/8" thick steel base that is 19-1/2" long. The a 1-1/4" diameter steel post is 13-1/2" tall and can be attached in one of two positions on the base. The wheel mechanism slides onto the post and is locked in postition with a set screw. The two non-marring rollers should contact the outside of the workpiece on the same side as the turner during hollowing. Pressure against the bowl is easily adjusted by squeezing the unique scissor mechanism. The clamp block for the Bowl Steady is not included and must be purchased separately below. Bowl Steady Clamp Blocks must be purchased separately below. They are sized by the distance between the bed ways of the lathe.
